Good tutorial on how to use illustrator but in terms of making the logo... The business now looks like it's called "Pain tree"...

Cool logo. However I think designing good logos comes down to good ideas rather than execution. And coming up with good ideas is a skill you develop over time by observing others and think how you would have done it differently.

Nice job on using vector instead of bitmap like most uneducated wannabe designers out there. Your process of starting with typography first is a bit fuzzy to me. Shouldn't you explore a typeface after you have completed your icon?

I would've used the words paint and tree together leaving with one t just like the video but i would make the t into a little tree and use vector swirls and floral effects for branches and roots and the roots would wrap around some of the letters in pain- and -ree

at 3:29, How is it that you made the curve ineffective. What i mean by that is. If I were to then create the line going down to form the other half of the branch, I would not get the nice sharp point there, I would have a very long rounded edge because of the initial curve. I hope I made sense.

I came across this while searching for something completely different. I have to comment. Hmmm. I can see a lot of comments here from people who don't even know how to use Illustrator yet. No big deal, we were all there once, but: Guys, you need to first put in a lot of hours understanding the software and then design principles. After that, if you have talent and creativity on your side too, you will create proper vector logos. Don't unleash crappy logos into the world. Puh-lease.
